This was tasted at the winery as part of a vertical tasting of Mayford Tempranillo, hence the shorter note. The quality though is clearly right up there.
This is such an exuberant release. Brilliant fruit, florals, cocoa. Texture, freshness, oomph. Complete. This is the most balanced and impressive of tempranillos. It has an inherent juicy drinkability but it’s also structured, perfumed, powerful and long. I’d hazard to say that this is one of the best ever tempranillo releases from this estate – and, given that Mayford is an Australian leader of the variety, that’s no minor statement. It’s a beautiful combination of berries and spice, tannin and length.
